Slacking on the Blogging

It seems as though I had a good start to blogging in the new year, but have let it get away from me. Laziness on my part. I still need to download pictures from a year ago and have them printed. While it is on my list of "to do's" it seems to get pushed aside especially since downloading to a site to print takes forever. I struggle to justify that amount of time on the computer especially if Marisa isn't napping.

Wrestling season has been overwhelming once again for me and Marisa having Josh gone every weekend. The good news is that we are in the home stretch. 2 more long weekends and he'll be finished coaching for another year until June when it is wrestling camp for a week at night. I've been keeping Marisa busy with soccer on Saturday mornings and trips to the play area at the mall or up to Poulsbo to the bakery for a treat and walking around downtown if the weather wasn't too bad.

Marisa is learning to write her own name and she knows all the capital letters (and many of their sounds now) and can recognize her numbers to 10! It is exciting to see the progress she is making and all the letters she can now make on her own. I am sad that her interest in coloring has gone away, but I am hoping it is just a break for a bit. Funny enough, she got bathtub markers for Christmas and I think we've done more learning on the shower walls then anywhere else. After all, we have learned to sing all of our nursery rhymes in there; we might as well learn some other stuff too. Just yesterday, we started learning how to count backwards from 5 and looking at what comes after and before 3 since she is fixated on her birthday and turning 4 so she can go to preschool with her buddies next year.

As for me, school, taking care of Marisa, Josh, Oscar and all the house chores, and working out has kept me busy this last month. I have started reading while working out on the elliptical and I have been addicted to the Twilight books and have read the 2nd two in the series with one more to go. Mind you I read the first one last Spring break when I had broken my ankle and just now got into the rest of them. Fun and easy reads while working out= one happy lady at this house. Wish I had more time and energy for that.

As winter has been mild since our cold snap in December we've been thinking about planting our spring veggie garden, putting in a new raised bed for strawberries in our backyard, getting new tubes and tow ropes for the boat, finishing Marisa's new swingset, and the arrival of our newest member of the family. Marisa sure is excited to have a little brother and a baby in the house, but I think that will be shortlived as soon as he comes home and cries. She's super sensitive about the noise level, so fingers crossed that our new bundle of joy is a laid back baby (unlike his older sister).

We are all looking forward to the long President's weekend to come! We hope you are all able to enjoy some family time as well.
