The northwest always seems to get you down and beat you up with it's unending rain and then just before you're ready to give up on Spring it throws in a gorgeous weekend at you that puts on a smile and reminds you why you live here.
We enjoyed a weekend that started off with Friday night pizza with friends at our house and to go with the beautiful weather banana splits all around. It was a much needed break for all and Marisa made some yummy dough like always and did a great job making her own pizza that she even ate!! So exciting to actually have her eat her own food.
Saturday morning was so warm and peaceful Josh decided it was a yard work day so....he weed whacked, mowed, and trimmed the grass. He also killed some weeds around the edges of the lawn with some good chemicals. Marisa helped mow with her mower following him all around the back yard, but when dad caught her a frog to play with it was the best day of her life. She was no longer interested in helping her old crippled mom pull weeds it was all about this frog that she could hardly hold on to because it was SO big. It took a while, but we finally convinced her to give it a new home in the strawberry patch. That strategy has backfired as this is now Sunday and we spend at least 20 minutes frog hunting this morning and we had to check out the strawberry patch numerous times. That tree frog got smart and left the area.
Marisa got to go play at Grandma's house Saturday afternoon and evening while her mommy and daddy attended the Sedgwick garden party. It was a perfect afternoon in the beautiful English gardens of Dan and Kay at Canterwood. We enjoyed good company and good food for a few hours without chasing around the munchkin. We picked up Marisa and got to have an ice cream treat with some friends before coming home and putting us all to bed after a long, fun and productive day.
Interesting Find! This Sunday morning we did find some sort of cocoon buried in the back yard under a weed that I pulled. So we put it in her bubbles bucket with some dirt and she wants to watch it and see if it is going to be a butterfly. I however am sure it is going to turn in to a giant beetle. Yuck! It is staying outside.
Today I made my first solo trip to the grocery store with Marisa since the accident. She was my big helper and of course you can't be at the Fred Myer without seeing a few people so we had to stop and talk and play along the way. All in all, it only took us about an hour and considering how slow I was moving and how many people we saw (including a whole bunch of my volleyball girls on their way to Great Wolf Lodge Water slide park...lucky) it was a great first trip.
Marisa is being a great helper and sweet girl! Hopefully we can hit up the park next weekend!!
